A custom home is the largest, most personal thing you will ever build. We treat it that way, one team, one standard, from the first sketch to the day you move in.
Built around how you actually live
Most builders hand you a plan book and a price per square foot. We start somewhere else: how your family moves through a day. Where morning light should land. Whether the kitchen is a workspace or a gathering place. Which rooms need to disappear from sight when the door closes. The architecture follows those answers, not the other way around.
That's why every Max Built home begins with a design phase that runs deeper than most. We coordinate directly with your architect, or bring one to the table, and walk the lot together before a single line is drawn. Grading, orientation, sightlines, privacy from neighbors, where the driveway meets the street: these decisions are cheap on paper and expensive in concrete. We make them on paper.
What's included in every custom build
Luxury isn't a finish level, it's the absence of compromise in the things you can't see. Every Max Built home carries the same construction standard, regardless of style:
- Site analysis and lot evaluation before purchase, if you haven't bought yet
- Architecture and engineering coordination under one roof
- Transparent, line item budgeting, real allowances, not teaser numbers
- A dedicated project lead who walks the site every week and answers the phone
- Independent inspections at foundation, framing, and pre drywall stages
- A documented final walkthrough and a complete homeowner's manual at delivery
Honest budgets, no mid build surprises
The most common story in custom building is the budget that grows 30% between contract and closing. It happens because allowances were set unrealistically low to win the job. We refuse to play that game. Your budget is built from real selections at real Charlotte prices, and when you want to change something mid build, you'll see the cost of that change in writing before anyone swings a hammer.
It's a slower way to sell and a better way to build. The number we agree on is the number we build to.

Where we build custom homes
We build across the Charlotte metro's most established and emerging luxury corridors, in town lots in Myers Park and SouthPark, estate parcels in Weddington, Waxhaw, and Marvin, and waterfront properties around Lake Norman, Davidson, and Cornelius. Each area has its own architectural review boards, setback rules, and site challenges; we've worked through them and plan for them from day one.
If you're still looking for land, talk to us before you buy. An hour walking a lot with your builder can save you from a six figure grading problem.
Our process, start to finish
Every build follows the same four phase structure: consultation, design and planning, construction, and delivery. You'll always know which phase you're in, what's been decided, what's still open, and what happens next. No black boxes, no "we'll figure it out in the field."
From signed agreement to move in, timeline varies with size, site, and selections. We'd rather tell you that honestly during planning than promise an unrealistic schedule and apologize later.
What homeowners ask us
Custom homes vary enormously with lot, size, and finish level, which is exactly why we don't quote a price per square foot before understanding your project. After an initial consultation and design discussion, you'll get a realistic budget range built from actual Charlotte construction costs, refined into a line item budget during the design phase.
Every project is different. Timeline varies based on scope, design and permitting, and site conditions. After your consultation, we'll give you a realistic schedule built around your specific home.
Yes. We regularly build from plans by outside architects and join the process as early as you'll have us, builder input during design is where most budget problems get prevented. If you don't have an architect yet, we'll bring design partners we trust to the table.
We do, and we recommend it strongly. Grading, soil, trees, utilities, and orientation all affect cost before a single design decision is made. If you're evaluating land anywhere in the Charlotte metro, we'll walk it with you before you commit.
Honest allowances set from real selections, a single dedicated project lead on your build, and a deliberately small project load, we take on the number of homes we can personally supervise, not the number we can sell.

Max Built built our home in Weddington and stayed on budget the entire way through. Our project lead was on site every week and picked up the phone when we called.

We did a whole home renovation in Myers Park. They treated it like new construction, not a patch job. Inspections passed clean at every stage.

Honest numbers from day one. When we changed cabinet selections mid build, they showed us the cost in writing before anything moved forward.
